TRINITY CAPTIVATES THE MASSES AT DREAMSTATE

发布时间:2016-03-30

For PK Sound, Insomniac’s Dreamstate at San Francisco’s Bill Graham Civic Auditorium was a unique opportunity to see how well the Trinity system would capture the audience with the dynamic nuances of top trance performers including Paul Van Dyk, Paul Oakenfold, Cosmic Gate, Simon Patterson, and Markus Schulz. The dedicated fans at Dreamstate were seeking a musical journey. Trinity took them there – and back.

“Having worked with the Trinity system for almost a year now, I’ve been able to hear how truly adaptable it is – not only to different venues, but also to different music forms and different performers,” says Rory Stewart, FOH engineer for the Dreamstate. “Every type of music has its own subtleties. Trance is no exception. Anything that disrupts the transparency of the sound deeply and directly affects the audience’s experience.”

The concert gave Rory the opportunity to compare two very different types of music he had worked with at exactly the same venue. The system for both events used 12 TRINITY speakers per side, with 8 VX10 per side flown as side fill, 30 CX800 DUAL 18” SUBWOOFERS, and 5 VX12 for front fill. “It was interesting to see how Trinity could so effortlessly and transparently create two very distinctly different moods. We’re beginning to see more and more how the speaker’s versatility isn’t only in its remote control features, but also its broad audio spectrum.”

Commenting on the audio challenges typical of this and in reality any event, Rory added, “Lines of sight to screens or lighting cannot be obstructed. Our stage was about 90 feet wide - thanks to the flexibility of Trinity, it delivers a wide spread of 120 degrees down to 60 degrees. In this case, we had all boxes shooting a wide 120 degrees. “Trinity allowed us to make adjustments at any time, after having the line array flown, and even during the show.”

“The balcony seating in the venue was a good challenge for Trinity, being six feet above the main floor. We could not install a separate line array for the back of house portion of the balcony so we ended up remotely adjusting the angles to disperse under and over the reflective portion of the balcony, as well as the main dance floor area. The spread between two boxes can be as wide as 5.5 degrees vertically.”

Dreamstate was the start of what is going to be another banner year for PK Sound and Trinity, including numerous events with Insomniac, who are without question a leader in the production of live concerts. “We’re extremely happy they are including PK Sound and Trinity in their signature events,” says Rory. “It’s going to be a great year, and I can hardly wait to put Trinity on even more stages in front of even more hard-core music fans – regardless of what music they’ve come to hear.”
